I have lost count how many times I have flashed and reflashed my 2 weeks old Xda Flame. But I have decided that I trully need WM6 because I have been so used to it when I was using HTC Hermes (Dopod 838Pro)
And the only known WWE WM6.0 that we have for Flame is infested with SBs even from the start.
So for the last 48 hours, I gave qwerty's ROM a fourth, fifth and sixth look LOL!. To cut story short. Now my Xda Flame is running super smooth with NO indication of SBs. And of course you may ask what did I do.
Well here goes:
1. While my Flame was still on WM5, I unlocked the Extended ROM and deleted ALL contents. Yes I left them blank except for the Network folder (which is required for O2 Autoconfig for providers switching)
2. Then using the SD card flashing method, I flashed my Flame with the second build of qwerty's Beta 2 diskimage.nb0
3. Everything goes as expected and my Flame booted up as normal. Except that because my external ROM is empty, the auto install wizard didn't do anything of course.
4. At this stage, even with plain Vanilla build, SB will happen the moment I pressed the standby button
5. And now the most important part. I installed PHM Registry Editor and edited the following entries:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\AsyncMac1]

SOFT RESET when done.
* In short, these are reg tweaks taken from the PPCSG forum meant to improve power management and battery usage
I can confirm that after implementing the regs, my Flame didn't go into SB anymore - NOT EVEN Once!. Yes sometimes the screen may be delayed a bit waking up but it will wake up for sure.
Please take note that my Flame will always go into SBs while running qwerty's WM6 previously. And please also take note that my Flame does not have any problem with SBs (the latest ROM from MWG) while on WM5.
So, if your Flame is not doing SBs on WM5 and getting SBs when running WM6 (qwerty's), this reg tweak may work. BUT if your Flame is doing SBs even on WM5, then you can expect it to get worse on qwerty's WM6.
Note that the Extended ROM does not show any version because they are empty.
As for other cabs, I installed them manually from DSUU_Flame_R2A_32_WWE_601.exe. Using Winrar I unpacked the DSUU_Flame_R2A_32_WWE_601 contents and only install the following:
- Autoconfig_en.cab - needed for automated data network selection
- Camera.cab
- Fmradio.cab
- O2connect.cab
- O2cplprop.cab - the most important cab
- O2phoneplus.cab
- O2themes.cab
- Pdf.cab
- RC.cab
All installed into the Extended ROM.
Please note that I didn't install Wifisychip.cab & Videotelephony.cab because they have some bugs running on WM6. Videotelephony.cab caused my 3G data connection to stall after losing the signal (entering lifts) and after that the hardware button for Phone Call don't work. So I am using the stock WM6.0 dialer now and because of that I don't have Video telephony, which is okay for me because I never make any video calls. Data is super important to me and I have my 3G active round the clock to enable Exchange 2007 push mail. For this very reason, I am not using cwkj's WWE WM6.1 as well because of the GPRS/Data issue which still yet to be fixed
Just in case you are interested, I also use the following tweaks on my Flame: It's for SDHC Power Management and performance tweak. I have been able to use my 8GB Sandisk and 4GB Kingston properly with the Flame identifying them correctly in size. While running WM5, SDHC was enabled but the system didn't see them with their respective correct size.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\SDCARD\ClientDrivers\Class\SDMemory_Class]

And of course a few other tweaks on disk/cache manipulation:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\GLYPHCACHE]
"limit"=dword:00008000
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Filters\fsreplxfilt]
"ReplStoreCacheSize"=dword:00001000
* All of my Flame's cache sizes has been beefed up to 4096 through the registry and with the combination of all the tweaks stated above, my Flame is running super smooth and stable just like it was meant to be ![]()
I hope this has been useful. Don't give up on WM6 yet. Cheers.

those tweaks were already listed there : http://www.xdaflameusers.com/viewtopic. … 58&p=1
Trying them right now under qwerty's rom, but I never had sleep issues before installing many 3rd party apps.
did you install the usual cabs or make anything else beside the reg tweaks in order to use sdhc ?

The SDHC drivers and patches are the very same one for WM6.0 that I got from this forum. Installed exactly according to the instructions. So the additional reg insertion for the High_Capacity Key came later when I checked my HTC Hermes and found it.
And yes, I have loads of applications on my Flame as well, Goes like this:
- Autoconfig_en.cab
- Camera.cab
- Fmradio.cab
- O2connect.cab
- O2cplprop.cab
- O2phoneplus.cab
- O2themes.cab
- Pdf.cab
- RC.cab
- HTC SDHC drivers & reg
- DoomGLES
- TCPMP
- GSPlayer
- HTweak 2.0
- PHM Regedit
- Microsoft Office Communicator Mobile (OCS)
- Microsoft Office Mobile 6.1 Beta
- WM5 Pocket MSN Suite
- SPB Mobile Shell 2.0
- SPB Pocket Plus
- SPB Finance
- SPB Backup
- SPB Imageer
- WM5 Storage
- Custom Inventory program (For work use)
- Schap's Auto Config
- Total Commander
- SOTI Pocket Controller Pro agent
- Thunder WM5 Storage
and the list goes on......but of course I prefer to keep them at minimum, keeping only those I need installed.
And almost all of them are installed to run from the liberated External ROM location instead of the normal Device\Windows or Device\Program Files. My Flame is also on 3G network all the time, heavily used for Internet Sharing modem for my laptop and emails. On top of that, I use it for music quite heavily too, with over 800 songs on my SDHC cards. So you can see my Flame is heavily used and I am forced to carry around a spare battery LOL!. The key thing is, now my Flame will always wake up whenever I put her to sleep, either by manual button press or by auto sleep timeout.

this looks great EFN, an awesome contribution for someone who just joined (welcome, by the way)
any chance you feel like formatting this like a real tutorial (you know, make it look all fancy and stuff?), I bet many users here, me included, would very much appreciate that :-)
@xsoulreaver: chill dude, some people have a knack for stating the obvious, don't work yourself up over it :-]

Thanks. I dont post much but I have been learning a lot from you guys here.....reading the stuffs here and there. I just feel that it's a good idea to share back the findings because this is the only site that I am aware of being very supportive to Xda Flame users (we are rare species LOL!)
And yes, if my Flame continue to run okay until next week without SBs on Qwerty's WM6 (which is still looking good until now), I will update the page to make them more of a tutorial.
And xsoulreaver, hey no worries man. We should chill out ![]()

The battery drain you experience in WM5 is normal for this is a VGA with dual processor device... The one in WM6 are the cause of the princekiss cab which turn off screen without sending em to a complete standby... but yes, importing or changing the registry value in comm's and sdcard by disabling them does makes a difference... Im flashing 2nite and will post a report....
@ EFN
Where can i get the treaded sms (WM6.1) cabs? can u upload it here? better yet on your post #1 on this very topic... thanks....

malloth already did the cab in the same thread I already posted..
according to him those are only active when battery gets low
he also added that one key for SD card reader :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\SDCARD\ClientDrivers\Class\SDMemory_Class]
DisablePowerManagement=0
Malloth's cab can be found here
ps: using EFN's method since yesterday with no sleep problem up now ![]()

you are using the tweaks in WM 6.1 19209 or in Querty's ROM? I thought nobody reported any SB's in 19209 anyway?
